Biokinetics is a profession concerned with health promotion, maintenance of physical abilities and final phase rehabilitation, by means of scientifically-based physical activity program prescription.
A Biokineticist improves a person’s physical status and quality of life through individualized assessment and exercise prescription as a modality. A Biokineticist is a specialized exercise therapist who functions in a professional alliance to health and medicine and is recognized by and registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.

Chronic disease management and prevention includes hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, strokes, myocardial infarction, fibromyalgia, arthritis, osteoporosis and many more.
High performance testing and training
Testing of sporting performances and training to improve sporting performance.
Individual wellness/ health testing and training
Weight loss and fitness testing and training.
Medical Aid testing
Testing for specific Medical Aid schemes E.G. Vitality fitness assessments.
Corporate wellness testing and wellness days
Wellness testing for staff, providing feedback and advice to companies on the health and wellness of their staff. Intervention implementation for company wellness.

Shaun Gray
Practice owner/Head Biokineticist
Qualifications: BSc. SES (UWC)
BSc. (HONS) Biokinetics (UWC)
Shaun qualified as a Biokineticist at the University of the Western Cape in 2010 and completed his internship at the same institution in 2011. He is a keen MTB and road cyclist and enjoys all sporting codes. Shaun’s interests lie in orthopaedics and high performance, chronic disease intervention and general fitness and wellbeing. He has been involved in research at the University of the Western Cape and is currently a lecturer and clinical supervisor. Shaun’s goals are to grow the Biokinetics field by informing the public about the benefits of Biokinetics and expand his business in all his interested facets of Biokinetics.
